Quand sa famille quitte la sainte ville de Qom pour Téhéran, Massoumeh, adolescente, est partagée entre l’espoir et la peur : ses frères, craignant pour elle l’influence pernicieuse de la capitale, souhaitent la marier au plus vite, et ses parents risquent de leur céder. Nous sommes dans les années 1970, le shah est encore au pouvoir et le mode de vie occidentalisé des citadins choque cette famille bourgeoise traditionaliste. A l’école, Massoumeh noue une très innocente histoire d’amour avec le jeune pharmacien du coin. Mais quand ses frères les découvrent, l’enfer s’abat sur la jeune fille. Accusée d’apporter le déshonneur sur la maison, elle est battue et enfermée avant d’être promise à un vieux boucher sadique et rigoriste. C’est alors qu’une voisine, qui a connu dans sa jeunesse un sort semblable à celui qui attend Massoumeh, présente aux parents de l’adolescente un prétendant parfaitement honorable, de seize ans plus âgé qu’elle. L’affaire est conclue rapidement et, une semaine plus tard, la jeune fille se retrouve mariée à un homme qu’elle n’a jamais vu. Fervent communiste, entièrement dévoué à la cause, il n’est pas du tout intéressé par sa jolie épouse. Cependant, il l’exhorte à l’indépendance et la pousse à reprendre ses études. C’est ainsi que, au fil des années, Massoumeh apprend à se débrouiller sans l’aide de quiconque, même après la naissance de deux fils et l’arrestation de son mari par la redoutable police politique du shah. Mise au ban de la société, elle déploie des trésors de courage pour garder son travail, protéger ses enfants et leur donner une éducation solide. Lorsque le shah est chassé d’Iran, la famille de Massoumeh connaît enfin le bonheur, mais leur répit n’est que provisoire… A travers l’histoire de l’Iran, Le Voile de Téhéran raconte le combat d’une femme prodigieusement attachante et courageuse pour l’indépendance et la liberté.

Esta segunda edición se preparó después del fallecimiento del autor y fue llevada a cabo por la cátedra de mecánica del Instituto Físico-Técnico de Moscú, la cual estuvo dirigida a lo largo de muchos años por F. R. Gantmájer. La mayor parte de las correcciones y del material añadido corresponden a las indicaciones e intenciones expresadas por el autor a sus colaboradores. Algunas de las correcciones efectuadas se realizaron con el objetivo de hacer el texto más asequible a los estudiantes. Al preparar esta edición, la cátedra se esforzó por conservar las características específicas del presente curso, en el que el rigor de las deducciones de los principales momentos de la mecánica analítica y la laconicidad del texto se conjugan magistralmente con la extrema claridad de la exposición.
